Union Pacific Launches New Communication Channels to Support 29th & Grove Community

‘Action for 29th & Grove’ connects the community as testing and cleanup is completed

OMAHA, Neb., May 9, 2024 – Union Pacific is expanding its commitment to the 29th & Grove community in Wichita, Kansas, with a new communication effort called Action for 29th and Grove. This proactive effort equips residents with updates about the ongoing cleanup and remediation work that has been underway since 2002.

Action for 29th and Grove includes in-person and digital communication channels. Homeowners or residents needing more information can participate in scheduled community office hours. These efforts are in addition to the company’s comprehensive efforts in testing, monitoring, and remediation to protect community well-being. The initiative provides clear information as Union Pacific continues its collaboration with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) to complete the remaining cleanup phases. It includes key resources designed to facilitate communication and engagement:

  • Action for 29th and Grove website provides updates on cleanup activities and next steps. The website features information and announcements about cleanup actions. Additional resources will be added as activities occur to promote open and transparent communication with the community.
  • Social media channels on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube share important news and information with the community.
  • Community Connection office hours are a direct line of communication between Union Pacific and 29th & Grove residents, offering the opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and receive updates on remediation efforts.
  •  Action support specialists are dedicated to responding to community questions within 48 hours through a designated phone number at 866-896-7511 and a project- specific email address, 29grove@up.com.
  • Community liaison Christina Long is a project consultant, born and raised in Wichita and a graduate of Wichita State University. She is dedicated to using her communications background to make sure residents’ voices are heard and considered.
